Peel Away 1 Paint Remover is designed for the complete removal of many years of paint layers in one application.

Peel Away 1 paint remover system was first developed in 1981 to effectively remove multiply layers of old lead based paints, where a heat gun or sanding would allow lead particles into the environment. The Peel Away 1 paint remover paste is formulated to turn the lead paint into lead hydroxide within the paste, so it can be safely removed and disposed of without endangering the environment.

Peel Away 1 comprises a ready mixed paste that is spread over the painted surface. A unique patent protected Peel Away 1 blanket/cover is then laid over the paste. The specially designed Peel Away 1 blanket delays the drying process, subsequently extends the active time and allows the Peel Away 1 paste to reach into the most intricate corners. Once Peel Away 1 has effectively worked through all of the required layers, the cover and paste can then be removed with the help of a spatula and the surface washed down with the neutraliser supplied in the Peel Away 1 paint remover kit.

Up to 32 coats of paint have been stripped in one application. The Peel Away paint remover is particularly suitable for use on surfaces involving detailed carvings or mouldings, such as ornate plasterwork, exterior brickwork, carved or turned woodwork and intricate iron work. Peel Away will remove paint from wood, delicate door stripping and will remove paint from brick.

Peel Away poultice paint remover system has been used for many high profile restoration projects including ornate plaster ceilings at Greenwich Palace, railings and interiors at The British Museum, intricate paneling at the Victoria and Albert Museum and ironwork on the London Underground. The Peelaway system is regularly specified by architects as the only appropriate solution for paint removal where damage to the surface profile or risk to the environment is an issue.

Peel Away paint remover is approved and used in cooperation with The National Trust, English Heritage and The Building Conservation Trust.

An excellent example of Peelaway 1 at work was shown in the BBC Two program Restoration Home, where a beautiful Georgian Mansion was restored to it's former glory. Over 250 years of paint can be seen being carefully removed from the most intricate carvings and mouldings with the unique Peelaway Paint Remover.

Coverage: The amount of Peel Away 1 needed for a project depends on type and thickness of paint. As a rule of thumb, 1kg of Peel Away 1 covers 1.0SqMtr at 1-2mm thickness. Generally a thickness of 1-3mm will be required, therefore 15kg = 10-15SqMtr

Please note: You should use Peel Away 7 on Hardwoods, Stone, Marble and Aluminium substrates to minimise the risk of damage and discolouration. Also use Peel Away 7 on more modern oil or water-based paints including masonry paint.
