Mirka Polarstar Film Discs

Mirka Abrasives are a world leader in abrasive technology and they have produced the unique Polarstar abrasive flattening disc.

Mirka Polarstar 150mm discs are a thin polyester film backed silicon carbide abrasive (in contrast to paper), with a hook & eye backing, specifically designed to efficiently sand the latest paint and lacquer technologies including automotive, marine and woodworking finishes.

Polarstar's flat, smooth, abrasive surface produces a more consistent, fine surface result quickly, and lasts longer than expected due to its excellent resistance to clogging.

Example Polishing Process:
Use Mirka Polarstar Discs in P800 grit, then P1500 for flattening back 'orange peel' and 'settlement' in the paint or lacquer finish.
Then use the Mirka Abralon Discs P2000 followed by P4000 grit for a finer final sand.
The Polarshine T10 single compound polishing system could then be used with the Abralon Discs, or used with the Orange Dot foam polishing pad.
Alternatively for an even higher level of sheen, use the Mirka Polarshine F05 Fine polishing compound or Polarshine UF3 ultrafine polishing compound with the Polarshine Black Dot foam pad.
