Rest Express Liberon Woodturning Kit
Liberon Woodturning Kit
Liberon Woodturning Kit is the ideal starter pack for beginners to help you create a perfect finish on turned wood! Easy to use, the Liberon Woodturning Kit will help you achieve a professional, hardwearing finish.
Liberon Woodturning Kit is easy to use and comes with a full instruction leaflet.
Preparation:
The key to a good finish is careful surface preparation. The piece to be finished should be sanded to a very smooth surface. Start with a medium grade abrasive such as 120 garnet paper, follow with grade 220 and finish with 320 on open grained wood such as oak or pine, and 400 on closer grained wood such as fruit woods. Use the Tack Cloth supplied to thoroughly clean the surface of dust.
Woodturner's Lathe Polish seals and finishes turned woodwork in one easy step. Shake the can thoroughly.
Apply sparingly with the Woodturner's Safety Cloth while the lathe is stationary. Allow to dry for 10-15 minutes and then polish at 1000 rpm or above, holding the Woodturner's Safety Cloth firmly against the work. Very porous woods may require more than one coat. To achieve the depth and warmth of wax use the Liberon Woodturning Stick.
Applying the Woodturning Stick
The stick should be applied to the wood as the lathe is running, using light pressure and moving sideways at a constant rate so as to apply a thin and even layer of wax. The wax is then buffed with the Liberon Woodturner's Safety Cloth.
Colouring:
Colouring dramatically increases your scope in woodturning and many first class turned objects are a fine balance between expert turning and imaginative colouring. Colour using Liberon's Palette Wood Dyes. Dyes should always be applied to bare wood before any other finish is applied.
Safety:
Apply and buff all your finishes on the lathe using the Liberon Safety Cloths as, unlike cloths containing strong threads, the Safety Cloth will tear rather than become entangled in the chuck, therefore reducing the risk of entrapping the fingers. For the same reason do not use Steel Wool on the lathe. Only use paper abrasives.
Packaging:
Two Liberon Woodturner's Safety Cloths, one Liberon Woodturner's Lathe Polish, one tack cloth, one Woodturning Stick
