Liberon Pure Tung Oil

Liberon Pure Tung Oil is the finest, untreated, pure oil for wood care!

The most suitable oil for external oak and is ideal for use on surfaces coming into contact with food such as kitchen worktops, salad bowls, chopping boards, etc.

Liberon Pure Tung Oil is water, heat and alcohol resistant and gives a long lasting matt finish.
Recommended for use inside and out and EN71 Approved for use on children's toys. Suitable for use on external Oak.

Product use: Liberon Pure Tung Oil is a natural, non-toxic product, safe for children's toys and surfaces/containers such as kitchen work surfaces, salad bowls etc., which come into contact with food. Liberon Pure Tung Oil is extremely resistant to water, food acids and alcohol. It contains no added dryers, giving a hard wearing finish.

Preparation: Remove any wax finishes on the wood with Liberon Wax & Polish Remover or any prior varnish finishes with a good wood stripper like Nitromors. The wood surface must be bare, clean, dry and dust free.

Application: Apply Liberon Pure Tung Oil with a Liberon Lint-free Cotton Cloth or quality Mako Woodcare Brush. For an easy first or second coat, dilute with up to half white spirit, letting the oil soak in for 20 to 30 minutes, wiping any excess oil using a clean lint-free cloth. Allow 24 hours between applications.

For an overall professional finish, between coats, gently rub with Liberon Ultra Fine Steel Wool (0000).

Apply further coats of Liberon Pure Tung Oil, reducing the percentage of white spirit used and allow a further 24 hours to dry.

Apply the last coats of Tung Oil undiluted, wiping any excess oil remaining and leave to dry for 24 hours. Do not use the surface or item for at least three days to allow the Tung Oil to penetrate and dry fully.

Furniture items can be finished with Liberon Black Bison Wax for an improved sheen.

Please note: As oil finishes bring out the natural colours of the wood and a wet surface is an indication of the final colour, always test Liberon Pure Tung Oil on a discreet area to establish the finished result.

Maintenance: Liberon Pure Tung Oil must be maintained on a regular basis, at least once or twice annually.
This exercise obviously depends upon exposure to usage and weather. On exposed, external wood, apply adequate coats of Pure Tung Oil to provide an initial protection.

Health & Safety Use only in a well ventilated area and do not empty into a drain.
