Fiddes Boiled Linseed Oil
Fiddes Boiled Linseed Oil
Suitable for both interior and exterior wood surfaces, Fiddes Boiled Linseed Oil is heated to 60 degrees and then driers are added during the cooling process which makes the product dry quicker once it has been applied.
Boiled Linseed Oil has a natural warm yellowish tinge which is apparent when applying to wood, and naturally darkens with age.
Boiled Linseed Oil is traditionally processed by the controlled oxidation of raw linseed oil. It is safe for children's items as well as all surfaces which may come in to contact with food.
Usage:
Boiled Linseed Oil is suitable for all types of wood, making it very popular with hobbyists, makers of small items (such as fruit bowls) as well as sports equipment, such as cricket bats and snooker cues and some instruments.
Boiled Linseed Oil is very water resistant and can be used for outside furniture and front doors. Even table tops and food preparation surfaces can be effectively finished with Boiled Linseed Oil.
Boiled Linseed Oil can be used outside but we do recommend using a wood preservative beforehand to avoid mildew occurring at a later date. Mildew and algae can further be prevented by applying Raw Linseed Oil to all of the surfaces including all the undersides.
Application:
Linseed Oil is easily applied with a soft cloth such as t-shirt material. Work it into the wood in a circular motion, finishing off in the direction of the wood grain.
Cleaning:
Excess Linseed Oil can be removed with white spirit.
Coverage:
Approx 18 SqMtrs per litre depending on the temperature, amount applied and the type of wood being worked on.
Drying Time:
A medium coat will dry within 2-4 days and a thin coat will dry in approx 1 day.
